A basic chocolate buttercream icing to use for icing cakes and other bakes.
Here is a basic, all-purpose chocolate buttercream icing to use for chocolate cakes, cupcakes, or any other bakes where chocolate icing would be necessary, or desired. I have used it here on my Simple and Rich Vegan Chocolate Cake, as is pictured above.
If neither of those are your thing, here is my vegan chocolate ganache recipe, which can be used either in a runnier consistency for pouring, or thickened and whipped to spread. A video tutorial is on my YouTube channel for my Wacky Cake recipe.
Vegan Chocolate Buttercream IcingCourse: DessertDifficulty: Easy
115g Flora vegan or other vegan butter
230g icing sugar, sifted
6 Tbs cocoa powder, sifted
1 tsp vanilla essence
dash of plant milk to reach desired, spreadable consistency
- Place the vegan butter in a tall-sided bowl, and add the sifted icing sugar, cocoa powder and vanilla essence.
- Beat with an electric beater until well combined.
- Add plant milk a dash at a time, beating between additions, until a spreadable consistency is reached.
- This recipe is enough to ice a double layer cake.
